Obituary of Thomas J. Sostar
Thomas J. Sostar, 89, of Lower Swatara Twp., passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in Hershey Medical Center. He was born on December 14, 1931 in Steelton, son of the late Joseph and Isabel Sostar. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a sister, Anna and three brothers, Joseph, Robert and Samuel Sostar.
He attended Steelton High School Class of 1950. After school he attended numerous management and military courses. His peacetime military service was with the Marine Corps Reserve and the US Army. He was employed by the Dept. of Defense and during his career he worked at several difference military bases. He retired after 30 years of service. He also provided Pastoral services at several churches throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife of fifty plus years, Janet Rhen Sostar; two daughters, Deborah Barry and her husband, Richard of Wellsville and Kathy Shaak Ream and her husband, Jon of Lebanon; and a son, Michael Sostar and his wife, Judy (Weaver) of Etters. He is survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin with Rev. Dr. Alan C. Wenrich officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Oberlin.
