Obituary for Theresa Ward (Chambers)

Theresa J. "Big Tree" Chambers Ward 83, of Swatara Twp. formerly of Steelton''s West Side and Pine Street, died on Wednesday May 26, 2021, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Steelton, on May 17, 1938, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel (Welsh) Chambers. She attended Steelton High School. Theresa married David I. Ward and they spent 60 years together before his death in 2016. She was the former owner and operator of Tree''s Tavern in Steelton. Tree loved cooking and baking, also enjoyed doing ceramics, and had a love for animals. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Theresa is survived by her children, Theresa J. Conjar and husband Joe, Steelton, Kim M. Shuman and husband Bob, Harrisburg, Dana S. Ward of Middletown, John B. Ward of Middletown, Hank Ward of Lower Swatara Twp; six grandchildren Farrah Conjar, Brooke Conjar, Erica Campbell, Brandon Ward, Max Ward, Mitch Ward; four great grandchildren Kylah-Rae, Nash David, Camden Matthew and Paityn Marie, and two more great grandchildren to be born later this year; two sisters, Frances Pugh and her husband Kenneth and Bernadette Ward; one Brother Ed Chambers and wife Carol, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David I. Ward; one son, David Ward, and numerous brothers and sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday June 2, 2021 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. David L. Danneker, Officiating. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 8:30 am to 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 S. Harrisburg St. Oberlin. Burial will be in Shoops Cemetery, Lower Paxton Twp.
