Obituary for Kenneth Mayon

Kenneth W. Mayon, 77, of Steelton, died Sunday, May 16, 2021 in his home.

He was the retired Owner and Operator of Steelton Mini Market, a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish and St. Lawrence Lodge No. 13, Croatian Fraternal Union. He was an US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Ken loved going to the racetrack.

He was the son of the late Louis W. and Helen Verbos Mayon and is survived by two daughters, Patrizia Abbatello of Steelton and Kendra C. Ash and husband, Jeffrey of Middletown; a brother, Joel and his wife Cyndi Albert Mayon of Tempe, AZ; two sisters, Christine Stoklas and husband, Joe of Piketown and Stephanie A. (Taffy) Heilman and husband, David of Hummelstown; four grandchildren, Kayla Abbatello and William Steptoe and Jessica and Scott Ash. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Mayon.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 South Harrisburg St., OBERLIN, with Deacon Patrick Kiley officiating. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 11:30 am with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm in the funeral home. Current COVID-19 regulations will be followed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operation Underground Railroad, 138 E 12300 S, Suite C-149, Draper, UT 84020. Operation Underground Railroad is an organization to rescue children from sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.
