Obituary for Joyce Vukmanic (Skof)
Joyce A. Skof Vukmanic, 81, of Bressler, entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 8, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Joyce was born on February 12, 1941 in Steelton, PA and was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Mikola Skof. Following graduation from Bishop McDevitt High School, Joyce married Richard Vukmanic. The couple recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. Prior to the birth of her children, Joyce was employed at the former Olmsted Air Force Base and then at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.
Joyce was a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, its Over-50 Club, was active in the Council of Catholic Women, was one of four women who had the foresight to begin a grade school dance group to add to the Kolo Club "Marian", and a member of the Bressler Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Mary Full of Grace Lodge of the American Slovenian Catholic Union, and St. Lawrence Lodge No. 13 of the Croatian Fraternal Union.
She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother, and infant son, Paul. She is survived by her husband, Richard; three sons, Richard and his wife, Miriam, along with their two children, Adriana and Nikola; Todd and his wife, Valerie, along with his children, Katarina, Eve and Brice and their mother, Jill Burkholder; and Jonathan and his wife, Stephanie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Steelton with the Most Rev. William J. Waltersheid, Auxiliary Bishop of Pittsburgh and Rev. Jonathan P. Sawicki, her Pastor, as Concelebrants. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Swatara Twp. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 am until 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 S. Harrisburg St., Oberlin.
