Obituary for James Murlin, Sr.

James J. Murlin, Sr., 75, of Steelton, died Friday, November 4, 2022 in Hershey Medical Center.

He was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School Class of 1965, a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp. with 29 years of service, Commonwealth of PA Dept. of Revenue with 20 years of service, and Penn National Race Track.

Jim coached basketball at St. Mary''s and later at Bishop Neumann Parochial School. His favorite hobbies were bowling and golfing and he was an avid Notre Dame fan. He was a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton, St. Lawrence Lodge No. 13 Croatian Fraternal Union, St. Mary''s Club, and Friendship Fire Co. Club, Bressler.

Jim was the son of the late George N. Murlin, Sr. and Catherine Suhina Murlin and is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Denise P. Dice Murlin; daughter, Andrea M. Roadcap and husband, Tex, Jr. of Enola; sister, Delores Murlin-Gardner of Steelton; five grandchildren, Jesse, Jacob, Ellie, Madison and Makayla; and one great grandson, Josiah. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, James J. Murlin, Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 12 Noon in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 815 S. Second St., Steelton with Rev. Jonathan P. Sawicki, his Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30 am until 11:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 S. Harrisburg St., Oberlin.
