Elmer is survived by his wife, Monica F. (Chernick) Burd of 63 years, his daughter Brenda and 3 great-nephews, Chris, Greg, and Sam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wilber F. Burd, Jr. and his sister, Helen M. Shughart.
